Goldenvoice presents
Bio: Masego
Masego’s roots are humble. Born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised the son of two pastors in a Christian community in Virginia, Masego taught himself to play bass, drums, guitar, piano and saxophone in high school. Always playful with his craft, the ambitious prodigy first got his start in the music industry by uploading saxophone remixes of his favorite songs on Soundcloud, and dedicating them to Instagram followers at random.
His addictive, singular sound, which quickly became codified among his international following as “TrapHouseJazz,” pulls together “contemporary alternative hip-hop’s eclectic future bounce style, the grimy snares and bass of trap, the trance-like synths of house, and the melodic sax found in jazz” (Noisey). As his fanbase grew, Masego caught the ear of Kaytranada, Sounwave, KRS, Medasin, Goldlink and Jazzy Jeff, whose pool house became a recording studio for Masego.

Masego’s critically acclaimed 2016 release 'The Pink Polo’ EP coalesced his unique, progressive sound, which LA Weekly dubbed “the future of hip-hop.”
